Samsung rolls out Champ, Omnia Lite in India



Samsung has expanded the portfolio of its 'touch' phones in India by introducing two new models in the segment, Samsung Champ (C330) and Omnia Lite (B7300). Making the youth as its target consumers, Champ is priced modestly at Rs. 4,500. The all-in-one Windows 6.5 Pro based Omnia Lite comes with a price tag of Rs. 17,560.


Champ claims to be the first full touch mobile that can also function as a music player. It comes with a 2.4 inch QVGA touch screen, has an internal memory of 30MB that can be expanded up to 8GB with a microSD. The device is also equipped with wireless FM, dual speakers, and 3.5mm ear jack.

With a three page extended menu, the Champ comes with an advanced mobile tracker. One can customize the home screen and highlight the widgets and applications they would like to use. Users can connect to SNS like Facebook, MySpace, Photobucket, Flickr, Friendster, Picassa, and Twitter. It also supports USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 and provides up to 12 hours of talk time.

The Omnia Lite allows users to edit and view MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel and pdf files. Automatic updates of e-mails are possible due push mail facility with Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Note Traveler.

Other features that come with the handset comprise of MS Active Sync, Windows Open OS, Touch Wiz 2.0 UI and Opera browser. It comes with 3MP camera and offers talk time of 10 hours. The device gives DiVx and Xivd support and comes with 3G connectivity. It's 250MB of internal memory is expandable up to 32GB.

Ranjit Yadav, Director- Mobile & IT, Samsung India, said on the launch of the mobiles, ''While the Samsung Champ is a touch screen phone aimed at the young consumers who love music and enjoy an active online social life, the Omnia Lite is for consumers who want multimedia entertainment as well as business features on their phones.''

With the new models in market, Samsung's touch range now boasts of 23 models across various price points.
